Our WeeBlog
I've always had a soft spot for parrots. I just can't help myself.
They are smart, fun, and long-lived creatures who are a literally a lifetime
commitment.
Wee,
our Yellow Nape Amazon, was adopted as a very plucked 15 year old bird.
His situation was not ideal, and so, being a Bored Bird, he amused himself by
plucking his beautiful feathers.
We've brought him into our home and he is part of the family. He's out of
his cage perched atop it most of the day, and I have the ability to bring him in
to work with me periodically, so he's not lacking for attention.
You
can easily see what a little attention and love have accomplished in a very
short period of time.
I'll
be posting pictures and information over time on how Wee is doing.
Many thanks to the YahooGroups lists:

Wee came to work
today for
International Talk Like A Pirate Day, because every wench needs her parrot!
Look at that

No
pictures, but Wee's vocabulary has grown...and he apparently listens to other
people in the house...
He
wanted my attention, so he starts yelling "Mom!" from his perch. I guess
he's heard my son say it a few too many times.
Sigh...Mother to an Amazon. |

Fan to the
left...bird playing with hair on the right...I look a fright,
don't I?
Wee, on the
other hand, has a chest just LOADED with tidy, well-kept feathers, now doesn't
he?
(It's just about time for trim-weekend...don't tell Wee) |

Contrary to experiences of other people with Amazons, Wee's
always been sweet. He has his "leave me alone" moments, but no blood has
been spilt when he lets us know he doesn't want to be handled. |

Wee's particularly fond of computers...

World of Warcraft
as a level 70 Horde Warlock)
